We are seeking a Product Team (Agile) Coach for our direct client for a 6-month, hybrid role in downtown Houston, TX.

 

The Product Team (Agile) Coach will provide organized and purposeful coaching and training to product team members, managers, and leaders as they navigate Agile transformations and continuous improvement journeys, adopting a growth mindset. The focus of this coaching role is on product teams with an emphasis on implementing best-fit scaling patterns. This role will upskill Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Tech Leads, and other individuals identified to support the product teams as internal coaches. The Product Team Coach will be able to coach multiple product groups.

 

Responsibilities:

Coaching and Mentoring:

  • Guide Agile teams on implementing Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban).
  • Mentor Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and team members in Agile practices and principles.
  • Provide individual coaching to team members to enhance their Agile skills and effectiveness.

Facilitating Agile Ceremonies:

  • Facilitate key Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Ensure ceremonies are productive and focused on delivering value and continuous improvement.

Supporting Team Dynamics:

  • Help teams establish and maintain effective working relationships and team dynamics.
  • Address and resolve conflicts within the team to foster a collaborative environment.

Encouraging Agile Practices:

  • Promote the adoption and consistent use of Agile practices and tools within the team.
  • Encourage the use of Agile artifacts (e.g., user stories, task boards) and techniques (e.g., backlog refinement, sprint reviews).

Facilitating Continuous Improvement:

  • Assist teams in identifying and implementing process improvements during retrospectives.
  • Promote a culture of experimentation and learning from failures and successes.

Training and Development:

  • Provide training and workshops on Agile methodologies and practices as needed.
  • Support team members in their growth and development related to Agile roles and responsibilities.

Enhancing Communication:

  • Facilitate effective communication within the team and with external stakeholders.
  • Ensure transparency and clear understanding of goals, progress, and obstacles.

Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Track team performance and progress using Agile metrics and tools.
  • Report on team performance, challenges, and successes to relevant stakeholders.

Encouraging Collaboration:

  • Foster a collaborative environment both within the team and with other teams.
  • Promote cross-functional collaboration to improve delivery and innovation.

Supporting Goal Alignment:

  • Help the team align their work with broader organizational goals and objectives.
  • Ensure that team goals are clear, achievable, and connected to the product or project vision.

Facilitating Agile Adoption:

  • Support the team through Agile adoption and transformation phases.
  • Address any resistance to Agile practices and facilitate a smooth transition.

Risk Management:

  • Identify and manage risks and issues that affect the team’s performance and delivery.
  • Develop and implement strategies to mitigate risks and address challenges.

 

  • Significant experience as a Coach, ideally working with multiple teams.
  • Strong background in Scrum and SAFe Agile methodologies and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent facilitation and coaching skills, and problem-solving mindset.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply agile scaling patterns.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in a similar coaching role within a large organization.
  • Certification in Agile methodologies (e.g., CSM, SAFe).
